Geraldine R Beals

May 22, 1935 – March 7, 2026

Geraldine R Beals of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 7, after a brief ailment. She was two months shy of her 91st birthday. She was surprised and proud to have become the single person in her lineage to live the longest.

Geraldine was born May 22, 1935. She later graduated from the University of Oregon Health Sciences campus in Portland, Oregon, in 1957, with a BA in nursing and later completed a higher education certification in psychiatric nursing with components in public health, adult health and education from the University of Arizona.

Roseburg was her home and the culmination of her nursing profession was working at the Veterans Administration for 32 years. Her nursing career was her passion. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and Hawaii with family and to China with her husband. After retiring she enjoyed reading and learning about current events, politics and history.

Geraldine married Jack K Beals in 1956, a graduate of the University of Oregon's Architecture School. (Jack preceded her in death in 2012), and the pair had three beautiful daughters, Susan, Julie and Karissa. Geraldine was also a grandmother of two, Stephanie Blanchard and Kevin Yamaka, and a great-grandmother of two little ones, Emerson Yamaka and Kobi Yamaka. Geraldine is survived by all of her offspring and their respective spouses David Yamaka, Michael Blanchard and Leslie Jones Yamaka. The whole family are graduates of University of Oregon (except for little Emerson & Kobi), and all are dedicated Oregon Ducks fans.
