Lois Allen passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the age of 95. Lois was born in Springfield, Oregon to Wilhelm and Mary Jane Larson on November 17, 1930. They moved to Klamath Falls when Lois was 5 years old. She lived in Klamath Falls and graduated from Klamath Union High School. Then she moved to Forest Grove, Oregon and attended Pacific University.
She met Bill Allen and married in December 1951. They eventually moved to Roseburg and started their careers, Lois in education and Bill as an optometrist. They had three children: James, Judy, and Rebecca. While Lois was raising her children, she became very involved in 4H, Camp Fire, Blue Birds, and parent-teacher organizations. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the Presbyterian Church, where she also played the bells. Lois taught grade school at Rose Elementary.
As her children grew up, Lois became very involved with the Roseburg community. She served on the City Council and the Roseburg Planning Commission. She was recognized as First Citizen, and was active with Sister Cities, the League of Women Voters, PEO, and the Coos, Curry, Douglas Business Development. She also served as the Mayor of Roseburg. She was a partner in the ownership of the Jackson Street Bookshop. She loved traveling with many friends. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Allen, and her daughter, Judy.
Lois leaves behind her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Kim & Jim Allen, Joel, Sonja, Dominic, Hayley, Kennedy, & Blaire Allen, Matt, Jessie, & Brendan Allen, Mike, Sara, Krista, Avren, & Ashlyn Yoder, Becky, Bob, Cooper, & Kendall Stearns, Eric, Awbrey, Noelle, Miya, Bennett, Juda Yoder. There will be a memorial at the Presbyterian Church to be scheduled in the fall.
