Maria Nunes passed away peacefully August 17, 2026 in Roseburg, Oregon.

Having lived most of her life in California, Maria moved to Oregon to be with her husband Brian Kane and their grand-children.

Maria leaves behind her spouse Brian, beloved son Ted, brother John, sister Sarah, niece Catherine, nephew Eric, son Ethan Kane, grandchildren Danielle, Ariel, Rhett-Alexander, Gregory and great-grandson Leroy. She also leaves behind a legacy of friendships.

Maria was a beloved family member, an artist and appreciator of the arts. Her career as a respiratory therapist showed her great depth of caring, be it for strangers, friends or family. In her professional life, Maria was respected and admired, known for her dedication and integrity. She loved her pets almost as much as her family (sometimes maybe more, if you know, you know). A spirited adventurer and world traveler. A food lover that knew no bounds, until the cancer set limitations, there wasn’t any food in her presence that she didn’t at least sample. She encouraged those around her to be daring in the same way.

While in the Bay Area she enjoyed a passion for running, sometimes dragging unsuspecting family along with her…..
She loved the beach. Eventually Maria's and Brian's ashes will be spread to their favorite beaches

To the end she enjoyed learning new things. Tackling multiple languages right up to this last hospital stay.

With her quirky sense of humor she shared many stories, some that made her look silly but she didn’t care. Always quick of wit, she tolerated Brian’s bad puns, usually having some sort of retort. She was a hoot until the very end.

While our hearts are heavy with loss, we carry forward the lessons she imparted and the love she gave so freely. Her memory is a cherished blessing, a comfort to her family and friends and a reminder of the beautiful life she lived.
